I am just about finished Les Miserables (actually reading it.) (Ho, hum).
I am listening to The Deerslayer (James Fenimore Cooper). Makes me want to get into the woods.
For Christmas, another book I received was Life From Our Land by Marcus Grodi. So far, pretty interesting, but not what I expected and not the book I would have written.
I am re-reading Pope Benedict's Encyclical Deus Caritas Est. I read it some years ago, but I am older now and may get more out of it.
Yesterday we planted broccoli, early peas, spinach, Swiss chard, and radishes. A good start ....
We also finally sold Red, our old boar. He is going to 3 sows, so should be happy and busy.

Very interesting comments on the Grodi book, esp that part about it not being the book you wouldve written. Be interesting to hear how your view differs!
Marcus Grodi's book is very much a philosophical one. I agree with what everything he said, (well, I guess I do, but don't hold me to it).
The book I would have written (an in fact have started, but probably will never finish) is part humour, part how to, and certainly part philosophical, but more philosophical from a Distributist and agrarian viewpoint.
Grodi is a holier man than I and is philosophical from a theological viewpoint-if that makes sense.
Oh yeah gotcha Jim. I did expect more humor and more of a Jon Katz-like book.
If you write yours, I shall buy! (say like, 'if you build it, they will come')
