Picked this tool up at a yard sale in early November. What you can't see in the picture is the tip of the tool which has a notch or recess, much like the notch on a regular screw into which you would insert a flathead screw driver.
Obviously, I would think this tool is made to tighten or loosen (or simply turn) something fitting that notch-but what?

It makes me think of old school wool rug hooks and such. LOL.
Of course, its probably something much more mundane, like the early version of a screwdriver with a bendable head--make sense? Of course, you've probably already tried that....perhaps it was used to tighten some ridiculously misplaced screw, on a common enough item to make it need a regular tool...I don't know...

It's a screwdriverdriver. It's for driving screwdrivers.
Being in the south I would be it was used for adjusting a loom, like the kind found in a Mill. I never worked in a mill (one of the few jobs I did not do), but I bet this was its use.

Well I don't have a loom, but at 10 cents, I am not complaining. I'll bet it'll come in useful on an odd job someday. As I heard on an Andy Griffith show one day, "Don't know what it is, but I've always wanted to own one!"
