The Trade

Take a 14 year-year old Jersey milk cow which is dry and un-bred. Trade her for a 6 year-old Jersey milk cow in milk (3 months since freshened) and probably bred. Even up!

Sure there were circumstances (a low bag hard to both hand milk and for calves to suckle), but nothing else.

And after milking her for a couple weeks, that bag isn't so saggy.

He is Risen! Alleluia!
Oremus pro invicem!

Lori and I have been considering a milk cow to add to our pig adventure, especially now that Andrew is working and living at a dairy milking 500 head a day. I just think I need a single milker machine. They have them here but they are pricey. Jim

Happy Easter! Jim and Lori!

Using a milking machine for just one cow may be more trouble than its worth (the cleaning etc), but I know a guy (and so do you! Jason Craig) who is now using a milker machine for either two or three cows.

But good luck with it. Let me know how it goes.

Good ole Jason. I will have to drop him a call and see how he is getting along.
Here they have a lot of the two milkers as they use them on the big farms to milk off the cows that are on antibiotics so they do not mix it with the good milk, so i think that I can get a good used one cheap. Even then it will be expensive i am thinking.
I can not feel my hands for the most part now because of the degenerative back disease I have so for me the machine is the only resort.
Let me know how the new cow goes along.
BTW ,,,,,,,, are you making cheese?
Lots of cheese making here in Chile, but it is bad cheese.
