Yesterday the kids told me our thermometer read 108 (F), and it is in the shade. I thought they were wrong or the thermometer was-but apparently not too far off. Columbia was a record 106F yesterday. Today, which was supposed to be "cooler", our thermometer reads 110. We have a wading pool, but even so, we don't let the kids in it til late afternoon in this heat.
We were also considering going to the beach this week, but decided against it because of the heat. Good thing. I read this about sharks on the Isle of Palms, which is our usual destination.
Finally, we have the puppy, Dutchess, back. She looks healthy and playful-and a bit bigger.
