Oh yes. The funny thing is that this book has several pictures of men in ties working at the lathe (and at the band saw and table saw for that matter.) I couldn't believe it. (There is no chapter on shop safety-but this was probably before lawsuits existed in their present form.)

... and that tie is really close to wrapping around the work piece and giving him an extremely close-up view of it. :)

Well, it is a short tie sorta...lol.
His head is large compared to his body.
He's wearing a tie that could choke him if it got caught in the machinery, of course...
