What a weekend! Piglets on Friday (11 of 12 survived so far.)

Pig roast and square dance on Saturday ... lots of work and fun .... and what pork! Never tasted such meat (and potatoes). While we were scraping our 1st pig I thought never again, but after tasting the results, we'll do it again.

Then today ... our cow calved! Looks like a little heifer, but daylight will tell for sure.

God is good!

A couple notes and pics. The first is framing up the milking shed last weekend. We haven't finished yet, but hope to in the next weeks.

Next up (and finally), here is picture of our gilt yesterday-she's not so big today.... she had 12 piglets this afternoon. I was as nervous as a new dad. They are not out of the woods yet, but am proud of mama pig and boar tonight. We'll see how they're doing in the morning. (Sorry no pics yet, the camera needed re-charging.

He is Risen!

Finally back, if only for a moment. Contemplating this first post I wondered if I should catch up on everything: Mrs. Curley's fall down the stairs (she's okay with 2 separate ankle sprains), how several goat kids were born (one being delivered by Mrs. Curley herself), 3 pigs bred (and the saga of getting one of these home and then the subsequent moving of her from one pen to another, the new chickens and new turkeys, the brooder, the new barn going up, Holy Week with a houseful of sick children, the 5th anniversary of Requiem Press (April 19th), the garden (and the new Bethune Farmers Market), and all the rest.

All these stories and much more to be told ... but these will have to wait in turn.

The break was good and welcome, so welcome in fact, that I believe future posting will be sparse for at least a while.

But happy Easter to all ... He is Risen!
